innocent has been doing just that since 1999, showing how business can be used as a force for good. Most of that money comes to the innocent foundation, and since we were founded in 2004 we’ve received £10 million. That’s a lot of cash. Enough to keep helping the world’s hungry in new ways, by finding and funding breakthrough projects. We couldn’t do this without the nation’s love of crushed fruit (and innocent’s generosity).
As we’ve grown, we’ve changed how we help, but our purpose, vision and approach have stayed exactly the same. You can read more about that here. In a nutshell, we help the world’s hungry by funding projects that fit into one of two goals. The first is to stop children dying of hunger and the second is to help the poorest families feed themselves.
Since 2013, innocent has committed to giving at least £950,000 annually to the foundation, even in years when no profit is made. This allows our work to continue. You can take a look at our latest annual accounts on the Charity Commission website. We receive all donations within 12 months of the end of the year.
Believing business should be a force for good, the founders made a commitment to always give at least 10% of profits to charity each year.
The generous donation nearly bankrupts the business. A plan is hatched to set up a proper charity.
We start on mission to help the world's hungry.
We partner with Send a Cow in Lesotho, teaching the Ha Maphathe group sustainable agricultural practices like keyhole gardening, livestock management and dam-building.
Our first scholar is Helen, and she headed off to India for two weeks to help the Irula Tribal Woman’s Welfare Society. We also fund our 25th project with Farm Africa in Sudan.
We fund a project with them in Malawi helping train up smallholder farmers. It also leads to a very famous visitor in Fruit Towers
We donate £950,000 to Action Against Hunger in Mali. They train community health workers to diagnose and treat acute malnutrition in children.
Goal 1 is to help children stop dying of hunger and and Goal 2 is to help the poorest families feed themselves.
We feel pretty chuffed about it. Plus 2019 sees our total donation from innocent hit £10m.
and that's not nothing!
