Scaling up a new entry-level irrigation pump to encourage irrigation and improve crop yield.
Right now, only 4% of sub-Saharan farmers use irrigation, which means many farms rely on rainfall to water their crops. This is a big problem for feeding the population, especially as rainfall is increasingly unpredictable due to climate change. As a solution to improve food security, KickStart created the affordable ‘Starter Pump’. Launching in Kenya with support from the innocent foundation and now rolling out across 7 more countries in Sub Saharan Africa, this project helps struggling farmers access high quality, affordable irrigation, to increase their harvests, escape poverty and stabilise their own incomes. Which means the end of unpredictable seasons and more food for everyone.
