Launching a new entry-level irrigation pump to encourage irrigation and improve crop yield.
Right now, only 4% of sub-Saharan farmers use irrigation, which means many farms rely on rainfall to water their crops. This is a big problem for feeding the population, especially as rainfall is increasingly unpredictable due to climate change. As a solution to improve food security, KickStart created the affordable ‘Starter Pump’. Launching in Kenya and rolling out across 17 more countries, this project helps struggling farmers access high quality, affordable irrigation, to increase their harvests, escape poverty and stabilise their own incomes. Which means the end of unpredictable seasons and more food for everyone.
